Individuals, Staff, Community Organization All Recognized at August Board Meeting

At its meeting on Aug. 24, the Board of Directors of the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities recognized individuals served, staff, and a community member for various achievements.

The Board also recognized Phillis, Jordan, Ted, and Kristina for their recent graduation from the Leadership Academy. The Lucas DD Community Inclusion Department launched its inaugural Leadership Academy to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to become leaders within their communities. The trainings are designed to help advocates served by Lucas DD strengthen existing skills, develop new leadership abilities, and apply those skills through community service, self-­advocacy, and advocacy for others. The graduates, seen in the bottom photos below, shared the knowledge, growth, and leadership skills they gained through the program.

Also approved at the meeting was the Lucas DD Annual Report, with highlights and accomplishments for Year 2 of the Strategic Plan.
