Grants Available for Lucas Co. Organizations

Imagine a community where every person—regardless of ability—can participate fully, feel welcomed, and pursue their goals with dignity. Lucas DD wants to help make that vision closer to becoming a reality in Lucas County. Two targeted grant opportunities are currently available from the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities. They empower providers and local businesses to break down barriers and create inclusive spaces. Whether it’s through innovative day programs that promote the use of technology, or restroom upgrades at area businesses and organizations, these grants are changing lives in powerful, tangible ways.

The Lucas DD Adult Day Program Grant helps providers in Lucas County fund technologies or programs that enhance adult day or employment services promoting community integration and community employment. The grant funding of up to $10,000 could also be used to help people achieve their goals related to Adult Day/Employment services & supports.

The Lucas DD Adult Changing Table Grants provide up to $20,000 for local businesses to create more inclusive restrooms. Funding can be used to install adult-sized changing tables, modify restrooms to meet wheelchair accessibility needs or adapt existing changing tables to become more inclusive. A recent recipient of a grant was the Toledo Mud Hens organization. The team added a universal changing table to one of the family restrooms at Fifth Third Field. Click here to see how this has changed the game for Mud Hens fans.
