Lucas County Board January meeting Monday

The Board of Directors of the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 23 at its Larc Lane Training Center, 1155 Larc Lane (Entrance O) in Toledo. Grant Workshop Wednesday is Jan. 25

The first Grant Workshop Wednesday of 2023 will be on Jan. 25 at noon. Renee Palacios, a local parent, will be sharing her alternate funding sources in obtaining multiple items for her son with autism. Grant Workshop Wednesday$ is a monthly series of live virtual conversations on resources to help find funding for children with developmental disabilities. Click here to join via zoom.

 

Discovery Night at Imagination Station on Jan. 25

Join Sunshine Communities on Jan. 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for Sunshine night at Imagination Station. Sunshine friends, family, and community are welcome to join for a sensory-friendly night out. All exhibits will be open and café food available for purchase. This is a free family-friendly event!

 

Entries sought for 2023 CommUNITY Film Fest

Calling all filmmakers! We are looking for you! If you are interested in making a film for the 2023 CommUNITY Film Fest, contact Board Community Inclusion Manager Lori Balogh at lbalogh@lucasdd.org. The CommUNITY Film Fest, scheduled for Aug. 20 at the Maumee Indoor Theatre, celebrates life in our community, promotes inclusion, and the everyday lives of people of all abilities. This unique event focuses exclusively on amateur video. The event celebrates contributions made to the community, challenges assumptions, and enhances respect for individuals with disabilities. Little Hands Sensory Group Dates Set

The YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral Presents Little Hands Sensory Group! Designed for families of children with developmental disabilities ages 2-5. At these meetings, families will have the opportunity to connect with each other and engage in fun activities related to sensory needs and play. January Project: Puzzle Sensory Bins; Dates: Jan. 23: 2 p.m. at Way Library (Conf. Room 1) and 5 p.m. at Toledo Main Library (Fred McDonald Room); Jan. 25: 10 a.m. at Toledo Main Library (Fed McDonald Room) and 2 p.m. at Mott Library (Community Room A). Questions? DODD Category ONE Certification Course Delegated Nursing

The Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to offer a DODD Category ONE Certification Course Delegated Nursing free of charge to area Providers and their Direct Care staff. The 2-day trainings will be at our Larc Lane Training Center. To achieve certification, you must attend both days of the 2-day trainings. Click here to learn more and sign up.

 

iDance APAC Annual Showcase is Feb. 5

With the theme of "Love Can Build a Bridge," iDance presents its annual showcase, open to the public, Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Maumee Indoor Theatre! General admission is $10 (via cash, check, or card) and includes popcorn and a small fountain drink. Reservations can be made in the office during studio class times or via email at iDance@bex.net. You can can also call 419-787-1552 after 5 p.m. All purchases are non refundable.

 

Ability Center Hosting Events for Children and Teens

The Ability Center has a variety of events for those up to 12 years old, with an emphasis on family-friendly, inclusive, and accessible events for the whole family, to "Teens in Transition," where individuals can improve social skills, gain new friends, and master skills to become more independent. Click here to learn more and sign up!

 

Save the Date! Inclusion Resource Fair is March 15

The Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities' annual Inclusion Resource Fair offers something for everyone. By attending this free event, you'll get to network with specialized schools, after school activities, summer camps, transportation options, funding organizations, and more!
