TARTA offering free rides to polling locations on November 8
The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) wants to make sure everyone’s voice is heard on election day by giving customers a free ride to their polling place. TARTA, TARPS paratransit services, and Call-A-Ride services will be free all day on Tuesday, November 8, as part of the Voter Ready with TARTA campaign. Customers can find resources here to help them vote early, locate their polling place and determine which route and service can get them there.
Family & Advocate Forum on November 8
The Family & Advocate Forum is hosted by Board leadership and staff and provides an opportunity to meet informally with the Board and fellow families to discuss current topics of importance within the developmental disabilities’ community. The forum is open to family members of persons served by the Board, advocates, providers, and anyone else who is interested in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. The Nov. 8 meeting will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. and include a presentation and public hearing for the Board’s 2023 Action Plan. Click here for the Zoom link and call information.
Bittersweet Farms Sensory-Friendly Holiday Shopping on Nov. 9
Bittersweet Farms will be hosting a Sensory-Friendly Holiday Shopping experience at the Target stores in Rossford and Holland on Wednesday, November 9, from 7-8:00 a.m. For one hour, the lights will be dimmed, music will be turned off, and foot traffic will be limited. This event is free and open to the local autism and disability community, so please help us spread the word! For more information, click here.
Lunch and Learn with TARTA at The Ability Center on Nov. 10
Join us at The Ability Center for our next Lunch and Learn entitled New Places to Go, New Ways to Get There: A TARTA Service Download. Little Hands Sensory Group starts November 17
Presented by YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral, the Little Hands Sensory Group is designed for families with children 2-5 years of age with developmental delays. The group provides an opportunity for families to connect with each other and engage in fun activities related to sensory needs and play. LCBDD closed to observe Thanksgiving holiday
The Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities will be closed Nov. 24-25 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. On-call staff are available 24/7 on our Emergency/After Hours line at 419-380-5100.
LCBDD monthly meeting to be held November 28
The Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 28. The meeting is in person only and open to the public at the Board’s Larc Lane Training Center (use Entrance O) on its South Toledo campus.
Grant Workshop Wednesday on November 30
Tammy Eisenreich, Parent Partner for the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, will be joined by Tom Weisenbach from The Megan Weisenbach Foundation for the November edition of Grant Workshop Wednesday$. The mission of the Megan Weisenbach Foundation is to provide financial assistance to families that have children with special needs to assist with quality of life.
