3.   Learn facts about your benefits and work

"I can't work because I will lose my benefits!"   If this statement sounds familiar, this training is for you! Lisa Comes from OACB and Keith Banner from DODD will share resources and tools to help participants learn about ways to maintain critical services and supports for people with DD while they work.

They use "F.E.A.R." – Facts, Evaluation, Action, and Results – to their benefit!

Presenters will be joined by:

5.  Efforts are underway to make the Solheim Cup the most disability-friendly ever

The Solheim Cup, next week in Toledo, is like no other women’s golf tournament in the world. It’s a chance for the women of the LPGA Tour to compete with passion for their team and country and for spectators to loudly cheer them on. Local disability and aging organizations have joined forces to develop a presence at Solheim Cup that encourages inclusivity for every age.

6. August is #ABLEtoSave Month

ABLE logo The goal of #ABLEtoSave is to increase public awareness around the benefits of tax-advantaged ABLE savings and investment accounts to increase the financial well-being of people with disabilities. ABLE accounts offer eligible individuals a path to “Achieve a Better Life Experience (ABLE)” through the ABLE Act legislation of 2014. This includes a focus on the ways ABLE accounts can help address the needs of all individuals with disability, including Black, Indigenous and other People of Color (BIPOC) community members with disabilities, who are eligible for ABLE accounts.

8. Department of Developmental Disabilities Director Davis updates Blueprint Work Group

Adult Day and Employment Services have evolved rapidly in Ohio. As a response to this demand, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities created the Blueprint Work Group.

The Blueprint provides recommendations to improve adult day support services, transportation services, and strengthen competitive and integrated employment outcomes for people with developmental disabilities throughout Ohio.
