1. The Next Family & Advocate Forum is Tuesday evening
You are invited to the next Family & Advocate Forum with Superintendent Mariucci is Tuesday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Here is the link. The Forums are designed to be informal discussions with the Superintendent to discuss items she feels are important, but also an opportunity for those in attendance to raise issues they feel are important.
Among the topics we'll discuss are: COVID-19 protocols, updates on Special Olympics, the new Ohio ISP, and our virtual calendar. We will also be introduced to our newest Board member, Bill Axe.

2. Looking for a new career. The Board has several open positions.
Current open positions with the Board are listed on our website at this link. In addition to finding links to applying online there is also a list of benefits. Open positions include: Human Resources Generalist, Early Intervention Development Specialist, Service and Support Specialist, Speech and Language Pathologist, Accounting Clerk, and Data Analyst.
3. TARTA to hold regional meeting on COVID-19 actions
Join TARTA’s online Virtual Public Meeting to discuss changes that were made during the pandemic on June 16, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Register here.
TARTA will discuss changes that were made in the past year and receive feedback on:

- Fare elimination,
- Cutting the express service. and
- Reduced hours of service and frequency.

4. Epilepsy Center plans annual Practically a Golf Tournament
The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio and The Blarney Irish Pub invite you to attend the annual Practically A Golf Tournament to welcome in The Solheim Cup to Toledo. The event will consist of the official PGT Tournament of players on Friday, August 13th from 1-5 p.m. Registration is required. After the Tournament, OPEN PLAY will be available to the general public from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and 12 noon to 11 p.m. Saturday. Fees apply, all proceeds go to the Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio.
Sponsorships are available, see website for further information www.epilepsycenter.org and registration link. Open play does not require registration. S. Huron Street will be closed between Monroe St. and Washington St. Food and beverages are available. DORA restrictions will be in place for alcoholic beverages.

7. Share your transportation experiences
If you are an Ohioan with a disability, a family member/friend/caregiver, or transportation provider, the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Commission is inviting you to participate in a survey about transportation access for people with disabilities in Ohio. Click here to take the survey.
8. Health orders no longer apply to ADS, VH, in-home settings; ICFs must continue masking, distancing
In new guidance, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities confirmed that in-person adult day services (ADS), vocational habilitation (VH), and in-home settings will no longer be subject to public health orders related to the pandemic as of today, June 2. Intermediate care facilities, however, remain subject to federal requirements for health facilities. DODD also weighed in on recommendations for transportation providers. All are summarized below. 9. Manahan Board Names Steven Maenle Executive Director
Toledo resident Steve Maenle has been named Executive Director of Manahan, the intermediate care facility for adults with developmental disabilities founded in 1979 as Josina Lott Residential & Community Services. Maenle succeeds the recently retired Michael Malone who served the nonprofit for 40 years.
Maenle joins Manahan from the Urbana-based Champaign Residential Services, Inc. (CRSI), Ohio’s largest nonprofit organization providing services and programs for people with disabilities. Prior to his nine years at CRSI, he served in similar leadership roles with Maumee-based Sunshine, Inc., for 15 years and eight years with The Epilepsy Center of NW Ohio.
A University of Toledo alumnus, Maenle is a long-time advocate and frequent presenter at regional conferences and seminars on issues related to health and well-being of those with developmental disabilities. Locally, he has been involved for the last eight years serving on the Board of the Holiday with Heart charity.
