Friday Update:

1. Lucas County Special Olympics receives donation from AJGA

Lucas County Special Olympics picked up a sizeable and very much appreciated donation from the American Junior Golf Association. The funds were raised in a recent tournament sponsored by Dana. 2.  Help available for rent and utilities

Local Community Action Agencies will help eligible Ohioans who are behind on rent, mortgage, or water and/or sewer utility bills catch up on past payments.  Click here for more information on the Home Relief Grant.

3.  TARTA wants to hear from you about customer service

Join TARTA on Thursday, November 19 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for a webinar based discussion about TARTA’s Customer Satisfaction Survey. Discussing topics related to customer feedback, survey results and more, registration for the webinar is now live.   TARTA is inviting  all riders, including those who use the Toledo Area Regional Paratransit Service (TARPS) and Call-A-Ride.

4.  Employment opportunities

iConnect, a division of iDance is seeking Direct Support Professionals.

5.  Virtual discussion schedule with  Ohio Dept. of DD Director Jeff Davis

Jeff Davis Join The Arc of Ohio for a discussion on Zoom with Director Jeff Davis of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities for a discussion of current events. This online discussion will be Tuesday, November 17, at 6:00 p.m. )

Register in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

6. Masks Protect you and your family

Masks People with disabilities are at a high risk for health issues related to COVID-19. Masks help to keep you and your loved ones safe. You have the right to ask your family members and providers to wear a mask in your home.

8.  New Facebook group launches  for discussion of developmental disabilities issues

Facebook A new group on Facebook has started where Lucas County families and professionals can discuss issues, concerns, and questions about dd services. Find the new group and join at https://www.facebook.com/groups/dddiscussion/

9.  Sensory-friendly shopping planned

A Sensory Friendly Holiday Shopping event is planned by Bittersweet and Target. The event is is November 18th. It is free and open to the local autism/disability community. This will be the fourth year for the event!  Click here for details.

10.  iDance preparing a Fall Fashion Show

iDance is sponsosring a fall fashion show "You Got This" on  November 23.  Area ADS Providers are invited to submit short 30 second clips of your models walking the runway or "still" posing pictures to info@iconnectoh.orgby November 16th.  All clips and photos will be used in the fashion show. All participating providers will be given a copy of the Fashion Show to have fun watching it again & again. Premiers November 23rd, 2020

11. Equipment needed by the Ability Center

The Ability Center is currently in need of raised toilet seats for its Assistive Technology/Medical Equipment Program.  through this program people can borrow mobility aids or disability-related equipment for free. The complete list of what we accept can be found here.
