7. T.A.R.G.E.T. graduates help develop curriculum
by John Priest
While the pandemic challenged the meeting venue and format, Corey James, Thomas Gordon, and Roger Schaefer graduated from the T.A.R.G.E.T. group initiative. Not only were they graduates, but they helped assist in developing curriculum for future classes. T.A.R.G.E.T stands for Teach Adults Respect, Genuineness, Empathy, and Trustworthiness. Corey, Thomas, and Roger were selected for the class, because of their desire to help others learn to work and live together, especially for those living and working in the community for the first time. They participated in the 8 week course, while meeting in the socially distant and open space of their garage. Aspiring Hands helped to support their efforts, including the purchase of times for their graduation party. Thomas and Roger are pictured. Thomas selected the group’s emblem (The Phoenix), which is featured on their t-shirts.
8. Angie Cole honored as Staff Person of the Month
We are all committed to the Mission of the Board and its Core Values of living a life of choice, community inclusion, participating in the decisions that affect me, and knowing that I have worth and can contribute to my community. But, there are those staff members of the Board that go above and beyond… demonstrating over and over again these values… considering not only the individuals we serve but also the struggles of co-workers. Such a person is Angie Cole, Service and Support Specialist.
Angie is known for her kindness and patience. These traits have made her an exceptional role model.
Angie Cole is an exceptional employee who brings credit to herself, the Service and Support Administration, and to the Board of Developmental Disabilities. She is well-deserving of being recognized as the September 2020 Staff Person of the Month.
