DeafBlind Culture Workshop

The DeafBlind Culture Workshop is a full-day, immersive learning experience designed to deepen understanding of DeafBlind communication, culture, and lived experiences. Through interactive activities, a documentary screening, small-group discussions, and a panel led by DeafBlind individuals, participants will gain insight into communication access, independence, and community perspectives.

The workshop also includes an introduction to ProTactile (PT) communication, offering practical strategies for tactile information sharing. Continuing education credits are available for select sessions, making this event a valuable opportunity for both personal growth and professional development.

Participants of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend and engage in this meaningful, community-centered experience.

**Interpreters: maximum of .5 CEUs possible;

Social Workers & Counselors: 5 ethics CEUs.**

Fee: $20 for the whole day. Cancellation by Friday, April 17th will result in a 100% refund. The target audience is agency representatives serving community members with combined vision and hearing loss, Deaf, non-deaf community members, interpreters, and students. Please reach out to jmccar15@kent.edu with any questions regarding this event and accommodations before April 17.

 The hosts of this event will foster a learning environment free of bias and discrimination, and on that promotes mutual respect of all participants. OCRID is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio is an approved provider of Social Work and Counseling CEUs through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
