Special Recognition at June 2024 Board of Directors Meeting

At its June 24 meeting, the Board of Directors of the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities gave a Special Recognition award to Mercy Health, and recognized the Lucas DD Legal Assistant as the Staff Person of the Month.

Special Recognition: Bon Secours Mercy Health

As the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities began thinking about its 2024 Inclusion Resource Fair, it had to find a bigger home to accommodate its growing popularity.

That search eventually led to the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, a great location made even greater thanks to Bon Secours Mercy Health staff Becky Ford and Shelly Shields.

They helped pick the date and time as well as make sure that the best rooms would be available, which allowed the expansion of the Fair in ways that were previously not possible.

In the weeks and days leading up to the March 13th event, they accommodated us for multiple tours of the facility for planning purposes, and were wonderfully engaging in what seemed like endless conversations about the logistics of the event. On the day of the event itself, the staff met us at the facility first thing to make sure that we had the necessary technology needed and that tables were set up exactly how we wanted.

These were all items we were prepared to do ourselves as we had in previous locations but their staff insisted on helping, which was just awesome.

As we thought about where the food trucks should park for this event, Bon Secours Mercy Health staff helped us determine the best spot, and then found all available picnic tables on campus, power washed them, and moved them closer to the food trucks to create a nice seating area for customers.

During the event itself, Bon Secours Mercy Health staff were always present, making sure garbage was emptied when needed and helping guide participants to where they need to go. Anything we needed, they were quick to accommodate. At the end of the night, they insisted that we just leave and they would take care of cleaning up. But we just couldn’t leave without cleaning up. It was the least we could do after all of the amazing things they had done for us!

The kindness and customer service of Becky and the rest of the Bon Secours Mercy Health staff helped ensure the smooth running of Lucas DD’s biggest inclusion fair yet, with nearly 300 people in attendance!

Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities is honored to present Bon Secours Mercy Health with the June 2024 Special Recognition Award.

Staff Person of the Month: Kim Rambus

June 2024 Staff Person of the Month Kim Rambus holds her plaque and poses next to SSA Assistant Director Sarah DodsonOver the past year, Lucas DD staff have held conversations, undergone trainings, and made a concerted effort to put our best foot forward in delivering excellent customer service. The customer, we learned, is both internally in the form of our colleagues and externally in the form of the thousands of individuals, families, providers, and community partners.

When I think of outstanding customer service internally, Kim Rambus is at the top of my list. Kim, as the Legal Assistant, works closely with nearly every department: Early Intervention, Finance, Provider Support, Community Inclusion, IT, HR, Superintendent, Community Relations, Capital Projects, and, of course, my personal favorite, the SSA Department.

Kim processes all of our local and FSS funding contracts, which directly impact the lives of our individuals. For those in the SSA Department, Kim is the one drafting contracts from cost worksheets we submit to finance. She is someone that works endlessly behind the scenes providing community vendors, DD providers and families outstanding support and customer service.

She assists with registering providers in the auditor system in order for them to receive payment. Kim thinks outside the box to determine new approaches and streamline processes in order to better meet the needs of the individuals we serve.

She is someone that always shows kindness, professionalism and is prompt to answer any questions we may have.

Thank you, Kim, for being so diligent and detail-oriented in the very important work that you do. It has not gone unnoticed by staff or this Board and tonight we are honored to present you with the June 2024 Staff Person of the Month Award!
