2022 CommUNITY Film Fest winners

The 2022 CommUNITY Film Fest was held August 14 at the Maumee Indoor Theatre.

Category: Best of the Fest

Winner: Phillis Schmidbauer for “Advocate”

Film maker Brian Ustaszewski worked with self-advocate Phillis Schmidbauer “Advocate.” The film took home the top prize, "Best of the Fest" at the 2022 CommUNITY Film Fest.

 

Category: Promoting Inclusion

Winner: Darius Cunningham for “Stopping the Hate”

Darius Cunningham's “Stopping the Hate” won the "Promoting Inclusion" category at the 2022 CommUNITY Film Fest. The film features Darius discussing challenges he has faced and an interview with LaTosha Gullatt, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager at the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Winner: Cohl Dollison for “Anxiety Not Cannon”

 

Category: Celebrating Our Community

Winner: Thomas Rich for “Unity”

Thomas Rich's "Unity" won the "Celebrating Our Community" category at the 2022 CommUNITY Film Fest. Thomas is an individual served by the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Film maker Vanessa Leonard worked with Thomas on the film.

 

Category: Celebrating Everyday Lives

Winner: Jessica Griest and Angela Jankowski for “Roommates”

Jessica Griest and Angela Jankowski won the "Celebrating Everyday Lives" category at the 2022 CommUNITY Film Fest for “Roommates.” Lori Balogh, Community Inclusion Manager for the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities helped produce the film.
