Jace Neal and Dustin Friesth from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, along with Carolyn Curry, Brandon Evan, and Chris Grant from the State Highway Patrol, will be here to educate passenger carriers about important transportation regulations beyond the basic requirements. Many carriers don’t realize that direct billing for transportation can make them a For Hire Provider. This means they must meet extra requirements, such as minimum insurance levels, specific driver and vehicle standards, and important paperwork that must be updated regularly—sometimes every year and sometimes every few months. Providing this information ahead of time helps Providers understand what steps they need to take and can lower the risk of crashes, injuries, fatalities, and liability if an accident or complaint happens.
