1. Four Board of DD staff members are honored with the Josina Lott Award
The Board's prestigious Josina Lott Award has been presented to four staff members who consistently reflect the spirit and commitment of Josina Lott. They are Karen Yount, Service and Support Specialist; Felicia Lonas, Service and Support Specialist; Rebecca Thieman, Service and Support Tech; and Michele Shepler, Community Travel Specialist.
The award honors Josina Lott, who laid the foundation for the services provided in Lucas County for persons with developmental disabilities. Mrs. Lott began teaching children with dd in her dining room back in 1938. Her efforts led to the founding of the Lott Day School, the employment program we now know as Lott Industries, and the first property tax levy in Ohio to build a school for children with dd.
