SALUTE Storytellers Live Vol. 5

The Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion will once again be the host site of SALUTE Storytellers, presented by the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Storytellers will take the stage 3-5 p.m. July 12 inside the Glass Pavilion at TMA.

The free event is the culmination of a weeks-long workshop where individuals with developmental disabilities practice the artful craft of storytelling and public speaking.

This is the group's 5th storytelling workshop, which will have a record 20 individuals, including, for the first time, self-advocates from neighboring counties and the Northwest Ohio Developmental Center.

The workshop was developed and is led by Rebecca Monteleone, Assistant Professor of Disability and Technology at the University of Toledo. In 2024, given the success of the program in Lucas County, Dr. Monteleone teamed up with the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council to offer the workshop in five other counties across the state.

Previous host sites for SALUTE Storytellers have included UT and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. This will be the group's 3rd performance at the Toledo Museum of Art. The event is held in July as part of Disability Pride Month.

An art show featuring works created by individuals with developmental disabilities will also be part of the program on July 12. There will be a reception for the all the artists afterward.
