The dictionary definition of resilience refers to "flexibility, toughness, and the capacity to withstand or quickly recover from life circumstances." While these are qualities of siblings of people with disabilities, the competing needs of family members, home environment, and relationship dynamics can cause sibs to feel "invisible"-unseen or unheard. When we are surviving but not thriving under the weight of life circumstances, "resilience" doesn't always feel like the right word.
