Most of the social opportunities for our individuals are based on coordinated activities with very little offered to those who just simply want to hang out. We wanted to create a social group to do just that, while also providing some structured social skills training, games, activities, and snacks!
Common Ground & Friend Network is a collaboration of our Service and Support Administration and Community Inclusion departments. The goal is to help adult individuals with developmental disabilities fine tune social skills through:
- Education/role-playing/games
- Putting what we learn into practice as we meet others
- Sharing our common interests
- Socializing as our most authentic selves
- Building lasting friendships and connections!
These connections could include friends, dating interests, roommate interests, or whatever the individuals have in mind.
Lucas DD will be hosting Common Ground sessions quarterly. We are now accepting referrals for our Winter Session, which will meet January 8, February 13, and March 12. All meetings are 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Larc Lane Training Center, 1155 Larc Lane, on our South Toledo campus.
