QPR Training

Question Persuade Refer (QPR) training is a 1-hour session that teaches participants how to reduce suicidal behaviors in others by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training.

QPR is an emergency mental health intervention for suicidal persons created in 1995 by Paul Quinnett, with the intent to identify and interrupt the crisis and direct the person to the proper care. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone in crisis to get help.

Participants will learn the QPR “Chain of Survival” and its role as part of an emergency mental health intervention.  As a QPR “gatekeeper”, you will learn to recognize the warning signs that someone is contemplating suicide, how to offer them hope and how to get them help and potentially save a life.
